Summary of role

 Write complex reports integrating product, store and customer data from multiple sources, manipulating data into various formats and importing data into various software applications. Perform general reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually) in an accurate, timely and consistent manner.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Write code for complex reports and processes based on specifications provided; standardize, document and automate processes.
• Produce periodic reports and data sets in required formats utilizing existing code for corporate customers. Make alterations to existing code as necessary.
• Perform special ad-hoc database research tasks and write ad-hoc queries for corporate customers as requested.
• Assist in the process of extracting, manipulating and processing large volumes of data to support various database applications.
• Validate data in current reports and repositories and make recommendations for changes to improve accuracy of reporting. Write specifications for IT to implement changes.

Technical Knowledge/ Skills:

• Intermediate to Advanced experience in SAS for reporting, analysis and database management including utilization of macros, DDE, and manipulation of very large datasets
• Intermediate to Advanced experience in SQL, PL/SQL including store procedures, triggers and query performance tuning   
• Intermediate Microsoft Access skills (or other database software); ability to create tables, queries and reports with automated distribution
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel; ability to write macros and expressions to perform data manipulation utilizing Visual Basic and linking to databases with stored queries       

General Areas of Knowledge:

• Strong analytical ability including good mathematical skills and reasoning ability

• Intermediate ability to identify and research resources for solutions to data and coding issues

Education / Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Business or related field
• 2+ years of experience in similar or related field
• 2+ years of experience with SAS or SQL

Overall Responsibilities will include the administration and maintenance of Statistical Analytic Software (SAS) for the Risk Management department, as well as programming duties.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain SAS and other softwares for usage by Risk Management teams.
• Work closely with IT to ensure SAS and other Risk Management software availability and timely updates on SAS servers.
• Work closely with Risk Mangement and IT to ensure hardware (processing, memory, storage) requirements for current / future data are met.
• Determine and obtain (through contracts and agreements) SAS modules, other appropriate softwares, and training for Risk Management staff.
• Lead departmental efforts to create and maintain efficient SAS storage areas and reusable Coding Libraries.
• Utilize SAS database management, querying, reporting, and analysis techniques to store, organize, and manipulate data in efficient manners.
• Extract data from SQL reporting and production database.
• Investigate, prepare, analyze, and/or validate data for downstream Modeling and/or Analysis.

Job Requirements 

Experience and Education

• Minimum B.S./B.A. degree (Computer Science, Math, or Business degree preferred).
• 5-6 years programming and data experience.
• Experienced querying, extracting and manipulating large datasets (1 million records) using SAS Data Steps and SQL.
• Experienced with Windows-based Servers and MicroSoft products.
• Proven experience working in fast-paced environment with ever-changing demands.
• Experience in financial services, risk management, or target marketing a plus.
